Today we share one of the superfoods we widely use at Orion Cafe: Bee pollen. If you have done your detox with us, you must remember the papaya salad you had when it was time to break your fast. The papaya was served with some added bee pollen. Why?
Bee pollen – a superfood
Bee products are considered to be one of the top superfoods on the planet. They are superior food sources. Consuming bee products is highly recommended, especially from wild plants.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has stated that bee pollen is the most nutritious food we can eat. It contains every nutrient needed to maintain life, nourish, rejuvenate and heal. Bee pollen is an alkaline food that provides many benefits such as:
– High level of antioxidants
– Vitamins such as B complex (except B12), C, D, and E, beta-carotene
– Carbs, RNA, DNA
– A complete protein (all essential amino acids) *
– Aphrodisiac and fertility-improving properties
– Increases strength, endurance, energy
– Permits quicker recovery from exercise
– Reduces allergies
*Bee pollen is about 25% protein. This is 5 times more protein than meat, eggs or cheese.
How to use bee pollen
You can use bee pollen in smoothies, fruit salads and in your daily morning granola with almond milk. 1 tablespoon is enough, but you can use more. It tastes really good with fruits like oranges or pineapples.

Refreshing and nourishing Smoothie

Colorful and flavourful!
- 1 banana
- 1 orange
- 1 cup pineapple
- A handful of raspberry and blueberry
- 1 TBs bee pollen
- 1 TBs agave nectar
- 1 TBs ground flax seeds
Fill up with spring water and blend until smooth.
Power smoothie

Delicious and nutritious!
- 1 banana
- 2 oranges
- 2 Tbs hemp seeds
- 1 Tbs bee pollen
- 1 Tbs chia seeds
- 2 ts maca powder
- 1 handful goji berries
- 1 handful goldenberries
- 2 cups spring water
- 1 Tbs agave nectar
Fill up with spring water and blend until smooth.
