Your body is a temple!
Transform ourselves by eating consciously.
At Orion Café, we serve healthy and vibrant vegetarian/vegan food including Raw & Living food, Superfood, Whole food, Sattvic-Yogic, and Thai vegetarian cuisine.
Our food is prepared in a way which keeps the highest energy level of all ingredients. These foods help to deepen your spiritual practices and many of our teas, juices and dishes are designed to enhance the detoxing process. This is a great place for those who are transitioning to a vegetarian diet.
We use organic vegetables and ingredients as much as possible from our own garden, local markets, and we also source specialist ingredients from all over the world.
We use only mineral rich natural salts, unrefined whole sugar, raw honey, mineral-rich maple syrup, fine cold-pressed oils, unrefined wheat, organic local brown rice, organic local soy beans, high quality Japanese Miso and Shouyu (soy sauce). For cooking, we use ghee or local rice bran oil which has high smoking point.
We prepare our mostly organic raw nuts by soaking and dehydrating, so they are more nutritious and all the enzymes are activated. Our super smoothies, raw dishes and raw sweets are so innovative and nutritious that you will have a new experience of raw food. All sprouted seeds, grains, nuts and rice are prepared in our kitchen. We use reverse osmosis filtered water for washing ingredients and cooking.
We make sure that we DO NOT use any GMO products and sauces containing MSG, artificial additives, colorings, preservatives and flavorings. All dressings, mayonnaise and ketchup are home made.
Raw Food – The “Optimising Nutrition Plan”
Raw, fresh, whole foods alkalise and detoxify the body, further enhancing digestion, allowing the body to absorb minerals, antioxidants, and vitamins.
“Life-force” means “the energy that is able to create life.” The sprouting ability of raw foods demonstrates the presence of the life-force within them. All grains, legumes, beans and seeds sprout. Nuts in the shell sprout. If you stick the top part of a pineapple into water, it will sprout roots. Each cell of the body is like a tiny battery, and raw and living foods supply the bio-electricity which charges these batteries.
Cooked foods cannot create true health because they are missing some vital elements needed by the body for its optimal functioning; things like enzymes, oxygen, hormones, phytochemicals, bio-electrical energy and life-force. When foods are heated above 40 (105°F) they begin to lose all of these. By 47 (118° F), most food is dead. Yes,the vitamins (except A, B5, B6, B9 and C that are destroyed by heat), minerals, carbohydrates, fats and proteins are still there, but in a greatly altered state – not at all what nature provided.
Cooking food disrupts its molecular structure and kills all the enzymes too. Enzymes are the indispensable catalysts that enable the body to utilise vitamins and minerals. Enzymes are extremely heat-sensitive and thus do not survive in cooked foods. The vitamins and phytochemicals also are injured, greatly diminished, and left in an altered molecular state. The minerals are made less soluble. The fats have turned from life-enhancing fatty acids to trans fatty acids, which create damaging free radicals in the body. Trans fatty acids also interfere with respiration of the cells. Uncooked foods digest in 1/3 to 1/2 the time of cooked foods. The stress of creating and replacing enzymes, meal after meal, day after day, year after year, contributes greatly to accelerated aging.
Benefits of the Raw Food Diet
A raw food meal leaves you feeling light and full of energy.
Raw foods are full of oxygen, especially green leafy vegetables that contain an abundance of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll detoxifies the bloodstream and every other part of the body better than anything else you could eat. When you eat raw green chlorophyll foods, you oxygenate the blood. The bloodstream, through its capillary system, then delivers this oxygen to every cell in your body.
Sprouted seeds contain vital elements that nourish our glands, nerves and brain. The hormones needed by the body are created out of the natural fat and other essential principles found in seeds.
Raw and live foods nourish and improve the body’s inner environment. Eating cooked food prevents the immune system from working on what is really important in keeping us superbly healthy and young in body, mind and soul. We exhaust and dissipate the body’s strength by using the immune system to combat the unnatural cooked foods, chemically-based supplements, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, hormones (in meats, poultry, fish and dairy) and numerous other toxins that we ingest, breathe in or absorb through our skin. When we really need the immune system to support us (as when a disease or infection develops or an injury occurs), it then lacks the strength to defend us properly.
Eating healthily means giving your body power foods that it can easily assimilate and use for regeneration and rejuvenation. Life comes from life. So the more foods you eat which are organic and straight from nature’s raw garden, the better you are going to feel!
