Turmeric – ancient superfood
Turmeric has been used in India for thousands of years as a spice and medicinal herb. It is the spice that gives curry its yellow color. Turmeric also contains medicinal compounds that are called curcuminoids, the most important of which is curcumin. It has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. It is a bioactive substance that fights inflammation at the molecular level.
How to cure inflammation
Inflammation is a natural response from the body to irritation. Inflammation helps the body fighting foreign invaders and repairing the damage. Without inflammation, pathogens can take over our bodies and kill us. Short-term inflammation is beneficial, but it can become a major problem when it is chronic, which plays a major role in almost every chronic, Western disease (heart disease, cancer, metabolic syndrome, Alzheimer’s and other degenerative conditions). Curcumin is strongly anti-inflammatory, as effective as some anti-inflammatory drugs, but without the side effects.
Recipes for turmeric paste and Golden Milk
This recipe is made with Turmeric paste and almond milk. Although the original Ayurvedic recipe is with cow’s milk, it is better to substitute with plant-based milk, knowing that cow’s milk contains natural and synthetic growth hormones that are known to contribute to cancer cell growth, as well as antibiotics, chemicals and GMO food, puss, etc…
Turmeric paste
- 1/4 cup turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup spring water
Mix all the ingredients in a small pot, at medium heat. Stir constantly until it becomes like a paste. Let cool down then store it in a container in the refrigerator. you can keep that for a couple of weeks.
Golden Milk
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp turmeric paste
- Coconut blossom sugar
Mix all the ingredients except the honey in a pan, on medium heat. Stir constantly until creamy, without boiling the milk. Add coconut blossom sugar to taste.
